There are several techniques of manipulating eggs and sperm in order to facilitate fertilization or enhance implantation. ICSI (Intracytoplasmic sperm injection) is a laboratory technique by which a single sperm is injected directly into the egg. This procedure provides men who produce very low amounts of poor sperm a chance to establish a pregnancy. Sperm can be directly aspirated from the epididymis MESA or testicles TESE in men with no sperm in their ejaculate.
