The latest technique of the transfer of embryos at blastocyst stage (Day 5 or 6 after retrieval), rather than on Day 3, serves two purposes: First, it allows for the selection of the best embryos with the highest pregnancy potential (since only these survive to Day 5 or 6). Secondly, it allows us to reduce the risk of creating high order multiples by transferring only a small number of embryos without adversely affecting the chance of pregnancy.
